Day 3 of POP 2 Workshop (Program Organisasi Penggerak) Attended by Various Junior High School Teachers from Kalimantan Selatan and Kalimantan Tengah.

Wednesday (25/05/2022), Barito Kuala-Kalimantan Selatan, POP 2 Workshop (Program Organisasi Penggerak) was held at the Global Islamic Boarding School (GIBS). This event was organized by the HAFECS (Highly Functioning Education Consulting Services) unit under Yayasan HASNUR CENTRE in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture which was held for 3 consecutive days 23 – 25 May 2022. Attended by 40 junior high school teachers from various regions in Kalimantan Selatan and Kalimantan Tengah. With the theme “Learning With a Sociolinguistic Approach to Support 21st Century Competence Improvement”

The event starts at 09.35-15.05 WITA, the opening session starts by singing Indonesia Raya song together and then continues with a welcoming session by Mr. Danang Bagus Yudistira. He was the person in charge of the event and the first presenter. He represented Greetings from Mr. Zulfikar Alimuddin (Executive Director of the Hasnur Center Foundation) who was unable to attend and at the same time, Mr. Danang welcomed the teachers, after the welcoming session, there was a group photo held with the teachers and coffee break.

After the coffee break, the teachers are welcome to re-enter the room to start the first session. This session was presented by Mr. Danang Bagus Yudistira with the title “How to Talk Your Student” discussing how teachers communicate with their students, before entering the material, he started with riddles aimed at relaxing the teachers.

In the middle of the presentation of the material “We cannot really communicate properly” was said by Mr. Danang, he explained that we would not be able to communicate properly. Due to our different characteristics, views, mindsets, and perceptions, we can only minimize them in various ways. For example, if we, a kindergarten teacher, want to convey something to students, we should adapt it to the ability of kindergarten children, don’t equate the way of delivering kindergarten and junior high school children, because the vocabulary and knowledge of kindergarten children is not comparable to junior high school students.

“No matter how good the communication is, if the response you get is still not right yet, it means: we have to change (improve) the way we communicate,” said Mr. Danang before closing the material.

The event continued with the presentation of data on the results of the Pretest and Posttest by Ms. Ni Wayan Karlina, she explained the results obtained after conducting the Pretest and Posttest with 144 registered participants on the platform. Furthermore, the delivery of information about the Program Organisasi Penggerak by Ms. Nur Kholipah as an assistant executive director of the Yayasan HASNUR CENTER.

The second session was presented by Mr. Arif Sholahuddin as a Lecturer in Chemistry and Science Education Study Program at Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, Banjarmasin. He quoted the words of Ali bin Abi Talib “Educate your children according to their era. Indeed they will face a different period from your time”. He explained how if a teacher wants to teach his students, the teacher can at least keep up with the times in a positive way.
Since the cause of the reduction of students’ enthusiasm for learning is the learning media that are not in accordance with current student interests. “Where and who is the best coach for teachers?” He posed a question to the participants, then he answered that the best place for teachers to learn is in the class itself and the best coach for teachers is their fellow teachers.

At the end of the event, Mrs. Nur Kholipah handed over the certificate to Mr. Arif Sholahuddin. The event ended at 15.05 WITA, and the teachers filled out the registration of complete documents and had a coffee break before going home.
